As Hitler rises to power, tragedy strikes the Lüllau family. The youngest son, Ludwig, struggles with grief. 

Ludwig charged out of the room, down the hallway, and outside. "Why did this have to happen?" He raised his gaze toward heaven and screamed.

“Why God?”

Overcome with sadness and uncertainty, Ludwig searches for answers. He discovers them only in time to be drafted into the German military on his way to WWII.

Faced by the reality of war, he questions everything he has come to believe.
